Creation of a Math Library in Palestine
The mathematician’s patterns, like the painter’s or the poet’s must be beautiful; the ideas, like the colours or the words must fit together in a harmonious way. Beauty is the first test: there is no permanent place in this world for ugly mathematics.
The Al-Khwarizmi-Noether Institute wants to create and implement a math library in Palestine for students in elementary, middle and high schools and for both regular students and for talented students such as the ones who will participate in the in Math Summer Camps to prepare for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). AKNI will handle all the expenses for the creation of this math library: purchasing the books, etc … .
Since there is no serious math library in Palestine, Al-Khwarizmi-Noether Institute had to lend several books personally to the middle-schoolers who participated in the IMO training. The fact that many of the Palestinian students do not have an address (their homes do no have a street name nor a number, and of course, they do not have mailboxes) makes it impossible to send them books through snail mail from Europe, and in addition, Amazon does not deliver to Palestine. Thus, the creation of such a math library is crucial in order to promote mathematics in Palestine.
